September has become a particularly fitting month for Henry Poole & Co. – a month in which the traditions of Savile Row meet the craftsmanship, competition and enduring elegance of the automobile.
The story continues beyond Savile Row at the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace 2026. The event once again brought together exceptional historic automobiles against one of Britain’s most remarkable royal settings.
For Henry Poole, the weekend represented the continuation of an increasingly significant partnership with Mercedes-Benz Classic. Alongside the cars, Henry Poole cutters and Mercedes-Benz Classic specialists proved their crafts – one working with cloth, the other with automotive materials and interiors. Henry Poole is celebrating 220 years since its foundation in 1806, while Mercedes-Benz is marking 140 years of quality craftsmanship and heritage. The motoring theme also finds expression through Henry Poole’s annual limited-edition tie created for the Concours of Elegance. For 2026, the design celebrates the Maserati 250F, an icon of Grand Prix racing and a fitting subject for a year in which Maserati’s competition heritage reaches its centenary. The 250F has a particularly distinguished place in motor-racing history, having been driven by some of the sport’s greatest names, including Juan Manuel Fangio. The 2026 tie therefore continues a tradition established with the previous year’s edition, which celebrated Juan Manuel Fangio’s Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR in recognition of 75 years of Formula One. Rather than treating these designs simply as automotive memorabilia, the annual ties offer another way of translating motoring history into the language of tailoring.
