We wish to offer you a farewell to 2022 and share with you our progress, achievements and recovery since emerging from the lockdown restrictions of the past two years.
The Covid pandemic left some repercussions that everyone is trying to come to terms with. Despite this, the Henry Poole team has worked hard to maintain production and honour all work in progress, which we know has been appreciated by our clients. The successful resumption of our Trunk Shows in Europe, Japan, and the United States has also been welcomed, and next year’s schedule is already on our website.
This year we have expanded the Henry Poole family. Paolina Rinaldi joined as a Commercial Manager, Jodie Savage joined as Office Assistant, and we welcomed a new Front of House Salesman, Joseph Bretagne. Among the tailors we have three apprentices, Gerson, Raife and Wendy, who are showing themselves capable and willing to learn all the secrets of tailoring, so that we can perpetuate our tradition of passing down the skills needed to continue producing high-quality work.
Regarding wardrobe trends, the changes that some have experienced in their working lifestyles during the lockdowns has been reflected in an increased desire for smarter casual attire to complement regular lounge and business suits. Also, we have seen an increase in orders for classic evening dress, as events and functions gradually resumed. There has been a high demand for the iconic Henry Poole dinner suit, which we believe is a garment every gentleman needs to have in his wardrobe.
Another positive development this year is our cooperation with Anette Akselberg, a very experienced female cutter, who has recently joined the Henry Poole cutting room team. Women have become a bigger player in the bespoke world, and we are proud to offer a fine and more specific bespoke service for new female clients as a result of our relationship with Anette.
This last year has proven to be a momentous one in British history with the celebration in June of the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, our longest reigning monarch. As Royal Warrant Holders to the Crown since 1869, Henry Poole & Co has proudly served Her Late Majesty throughout her long reign and so the news of her passing in September was particularly poignantly felt by the company. We wish our new King well and look forward to serving him throughout his reign.
As all Royal Warrant holders are expected to, Henry Poole is moving towards a more sustainable direction in 2023. Henry Poole garments are inherently sustainable, therefore steps to even greener production may seem short, but are still attainable and we are confident that our customers will appreciate our efforts in this regard.
Notable events we are looking forward to in 2023 include the Savile Row Concourse of Elegance on May 24th and 25th, and a celebration of the ‘Cundey Weave’ tie design by launching a travel suiting in late Spring 2023.
Finally, next year will be enriched by a new range of accessories, which will be available for purchase on our website. There remains the chance to buy gift vouchers for loved ones, be it an e-gift voucher for online accessories, or for bespoke garments.
