Henry Poole & Co. are pleased to announce our collaboration with Eco-Luxe and other Savile Row houses to make a new limited edition recycled woollen cloth in a grey herringbone.
Eco-Luxe and Savile Row tailors will reveal a new innovative recycled luxury wool cloth in their first event in celebration of Wool Month on 3rd October 2023.
The tailoring houses on Savile Row have always striven towards sustainable methods in their craft, with the recycling, repurposing, and repairing of cloth and garments integral to the trade.
Eco-Luxe founder Su Thomas collected the tailors’ excess fabric cuttings over several months, amounting to over 200kg of textile waste. This was used to kick start the bedding-in of the first ‘fibre opening’ machine in the UK at iinouiio Ltd, beginning the process of converting the waste pieces of cloth into a yarn. This yarn was then woven into cloth at Woven in The Bone, a micro mill in Scotland.
The project has so far produced 36 metres of grey herringbone luxury cloth, the first of its kind used in Savile Row tailoring. It’s truly a step forward to a future with zero-waste tailoring and highlights the tailors’ recognition of the importance of reducing textile waste that goes to landfill.
The new limited edition grey herringbone recycled woollen cloth is now available for sports jackets at Henry Poole & Co.
