Portrait Of Emperor Napoleon Iii Silk Pocket Square

Portrait of Emperor Napoleon III Silk Pocket Square

£95

Emperor Napoleon III granted Henry Poole & Co. its first Royal Warrant in 1858. His endorsement of Poole’s played a significant role in our success throughout the 19th century. In this portrait the Emperor wears his full regalia, likely made by Henry Poole on Savile Row. Whilst this original portrait was destroyed many replicas were made with one available to view at the Bowes Museum in County Durham.

Original portrait of Napoleon III was an oil on canvas painting by the German portrait painter Franz Xaver Winterhalter, created in 1853. The original portrait was lost in a fire in the Tuileries Palace, in Paris, in 1871, but is known because it was largely copied by other painters during the emperor’s reign.
